I was really curious to see what classes everyone misses from high school and what college classes everyone is taking now.
So if you would just comment what classes you miss and why and what classes you have in college.
To start I have:
Political Science (it is actually one of my favorites and most interesting ones)
Biology (I wish I could kill this class)
Sociology (absolutely my favorite class!)
Writing (I love that I am doing so well in the class)
Classes I Miss:
1. Creative Writing - I didn't realize until recently how much I learned about myself in that class. There was so much freedom and encouragement to just write and think. I think that class really made me open up and I miss it like crazy!! (I even made a poster of my quote, that W-K gave me at the end of the semester and put it on my wall in my dorm)
2. Announcements - I feel that this class was my whole second semester. I really miss that I don't have control over it anymore and I hope it continues. I still talk to Mr. Owens and I watch the announcements and give feedback to Mr. Owens to give to the students. I cannot let it go. If anyone cares the announcements now has a YouTube account because I wouldn't stop bugging Mr. Owens.
3. Experiential Learning - I just missing working with all my third graders.
So comment below on your replies. =]
Currently Taking:
ReplyDelete1. Computer and Visual Media: Great content, awful teacher. This is where I learn all of my Photoshop skills
2. English 150: Easiest English Class I have ever taken. Have aced every paper so far! Thanks Burrows and WK!
3. Design Survey: Graphic Design History....way boring.
4. FSUS: Intro to Ferris....hate this class. Mainly because I don't have time for it haha
Classes I Miss:
1. Creative Writing: Like Katie, I learned a lot about myself in this class too. I loved how free that class was and it really felt like we were all a big family for the semester. I miss it.
2. College Prep English: I miss listening to Burrows' sarcastic comments and dry sense of humor haha. I miss being challenged in my writing..even if I hated it at the time.
3. ChemCom: Mr. Landry was the best science teacher I could ever ask for. Also, this class was one of the most fun in my entire time at Sparta. Dayna, Katie, and I had a blast everyday. Even though WE were the obnoxious ones for once, Mr. Landry loved us haha. Good times.
Thanks for the CW shout outs, ladies! I miss that class too. I am swamped by 3 classes of British Lit and I need my "break class" :-) I hope that CW touches everyone at so many levels. Learning about yourself takes time... that you never really take. CW allows for that. Life FLIES by and all of a sudden you can find yourself at 38 with two toddlers and a hubby, working like mad and praying for a snow day to catch up!
ReplyDeleteI also couldn't be happier that so many former students say how prepared they are when they hit college. The frustration SHS grads complain about is not that they don't get it -- it's that others don't even know where the thesis goes! Go SHS English team!
1. I feel like I need a numbered list too.
2. Lists make me feel good, so I am going to make this one.
3. Keep your eyes open for new ideas for me in creative writing and speech class. They are both next semester.
4. Should I start a new blog for next semester's class, or should I just continue this one for posterity?
Thanks for keeping up the blog -- WHERE IS EVERYONE ELSE?
I think we should keep the same blog. I'd love to see what other people have to offer for our little Creative Writing Blog. =]
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to say if a new blog should be started or continue this one. I feel this is blog is one family, but it would be nice to have others add to it and discussions. I think I will go with add to this one. We could all be one big family.
ReplyDeleteI talked to kids in my writing class today, and everyone I talked to did not focus on writing like we did. Some students never even learned MLA style I was shocked!
I say stick with this blog. It'll be sort of weird to have other students (one's we don't even know) on "our" blog, but it would be nice to have it updated more often than it currently is.
ReplyDeleteQuick rundown of classes:
Econ -Love it (which scares me)
Math (calc)-So boring because I took it in high school
Construction Management -Very basic intro. class so neither hate nor love it.
Computing -They had to explain how to save a word document. I'm too smart for this class.
Human Communications -The professor needed an editor for his book because it is horrible.
I miss:
Creative writing
AP English
Physics
Band
And all of my friends. Okay, back to work. :P
I have been sucked into the black abyss of my life! hahaha Okay-it's not really that bad. I am currently taking: Child Psych, English, Biology, and Spanish-the highest CC offers. Yeah that makes me feel nerdy. lol
ReplyDeleteClasses that I miss: Creative writing-most definitely, AP Euro, Spanish with CB, and music apprec. It's mainly the teachers I miss though. In college ive been getting some way out there profs; theyre good and all but really, i guess you would say eccentric.
