"Burned" book afterthoughts=].
I have just finished probably the most unsettling yet irrevocably sincere books I have ever read (yes I do admit, I haven't read very many books). Regardless, it was astonishing how hard it hit me, right in the gut, about life, love, and death in general. It made me realize how precious life really is and how long it took to construct, yet it can all be shattered in a matter of seconds. Also, it talked about love and how only the lucky people find real love, the kind that makes you want to travel across the world just to feel the warmth of a smile that can only be felt in person. The unsettling part? That only the lucky ones find what love really means. I just couldn't fathom that some people may never truly find love; it kind of broke my heart to read that. To know that some people go through life with a tasteless, loveless manner just waiting for the next routine, the kind that makes a loud enough drone that you forget that you are hearing anything. But then I thought that possibly, someone could have found love, but didn't even realize that they had only to find themselves running away from the very thing that offered security and comfort for their fickled little heart. So, i guess the book may be wrong after all. Maybe we do all find love throughout our lives, but we just don't take the time to cherich it and nourish it until it blooms into something even more. Trust.

Hey!Im glad youliked the book so much. I felt the same way actually. The only thing is that I think there is different types of love and that not everyone will find true romantic love. Everyone will experience some type of love though.
ReplyDeleteAl-- I am glad you were so affected by this book. I think you are analyzing it wisely. One book certainly cannot define love for everyone. Take it as ONE book. Enjoy your long weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat is what I really like about Ellen Hopkins books, I feel that they all can show you a little bit about life in different forms. I think she does a very good job getting you to think and experience those situations without having to go through them yourselve.
ReplyDeleteAs for the love part, I think everyone experiences love but just in many different forms, and yes some people may run from it and or hide from or maybe they just don't know how to except it. Like WK said it is just one book and love is always different.
Wow, Alley. I love the way you analyzed the book! You've definitely interested me in reading it.
