I have two interesting "notice its" for this week, and they both come from books I've read before. I figured, though, that many of you would enjoy them.
The first is from a book called
Once Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris. In this book there is a character that is always mixing up his idioms and saying, for instance, "put your shoulder to the grindstone and your nose to the wheel". There are many occurances and each mix up is more hilarious than the last.
The second is from a book entitled
The Rumplestiltskin Problem by Vivian Vande Velde. This is a collection of six retellings of "Rumplestiltskin" and each of them begins with the words "Once upon a time..." but each one says something about how different the times are. One says "Once upon a time, before lipliner and eyelash curlers". They are very interesting and each has something to do with the changes the author made in the retelling.
I really miss having Creative Writing first thing in the morning. I hope everyone is having a good semester so far!
